So I went to check on Far today and she does look a little better. The swelling of the eyelids is reduced but her eye is very blue and cloudy (not good). What's worse is she is acting distressed and uncomfortable in her body. In March of 2010 Farletta had a severe impaction colic resulting from a severe uveitis episode. The stress of the episode plus all the meds and pain killers slowed her gut down to a near total stop. She very nearly died.
This is the worst episode she has had in a long time and I fear she will colic again. I walked her around the indoor arena for a long while today. I also observed she is very itchy. I wondered if she is having some sort of allergic reaction to something and this has caused the flare-up? I don't know but I figured a cool bath and a treatment with her special hydrocortisone conditioner wouldn't hurt and it might help. I also put her post surgery mask on (with the closed eye cup) to give her some relief from the light. I really thought she'd hate it but I must say I've never felt such gratitude and appreciation come from a horse. She lowered her head to receive the mask and breathed a sigh of relief. She will be turned out with it on this evening and over night.
Meds: NeoPolyDex three times/day, Atropine one time/day. 1000# dose of banamine in the morning due to extreme swell
